There are times a potter shapes a piece, but really has no vision for how they will finish it. Inviting another artist into their studio to paint or stain a piece makes it a collaborative effort. Each person adds their own vision to the piece, and it becomes more as a whole than it would have been. If each artist had created their own piece, it would only reflect their vision. By combining their artistry, a synergy is achieved and a piece has a whole new life. One plus one occasionally equals much more than two when creating art.
